Day out in Edinburgh.

If you’re ever in Edinburgh with the kids, I highly recommend visiting the National Museum of Scotland. It is easily accessible and very child friendly. The museum is spacious, with large open areas which are ideal for kids to wander. Or in our case.. run!

(Animal world gallery)

There is a large animal world gallery which is full of animals from around the world. There are interactive displays and activities in plentiful supply. Little Bee had a ball running around touching and fiddling with all the displays. There are many things that are off limits to touch, however these are displayed well out of the reach of little inquisitive fingers.

Little Bee was mesmerised with the ‘Earth in space’ display which has a wall with an array of tiny lights displayed to replicate the stars in the solar system.

We only got round one floor of the museum before Little Bee put his grumpy pants on and needed a nap.. Great news for Mummy and Daddy who were thrilled to find the cafe for some well needed caffeine! After refreshments we decided to head to the museum shop. On the way we discovered a learning area specifically for little ones. It looked amazing! there were musical instruments, building blocks, dressing up, a reading nook, bright lights and lots of other materials and activities to explore.

Little Bee slept through the noise and missed the fun. We decided we’ll visit again the next time we’re in Edinburgh.

When we left the museum we went to Princes Street Gardens for a  gander.  Little Bee woke up and had a cheeky smile on his face again. Free to run around the gardens, point and yell ‘BUS’ (at least that’s what we thought he was shouting) at every passing double decker, he was a happy chap.

‘BUS!!!!!’

All in all we had an agreeable day out. Little Bee had fun and seeing his little face light up made our day.
